Benjamin C. Faw was the youngest of seven known children of John Randolph Faw (1792-1875) and Nancy (born Mary?) Calloway Faw (1796-1876) who married c1814 in presumably North Carolina.

Benjamin married Rebecca Ann McNeill (1840-1909) on 16 Feb 1859 at Ashe County, North Carolina. Benjamin and Rebecca were the parents of nine known children, namely:

1. Laura V. Faw (1860-1861)
2. Sarah Faw (1860-???)
3. Pheonis Bethel Faw (1861-1920)
4. Rudy Emmett Faw (1864-1954)
5. Avery Silvester Faw (1866-1895)
6. America F. Faw (1869-???)
7. Euphronia Florence Faw (1873-1944)
8. Edith E. Faw (1875-1879)
9. Dora Ann Faw (1880-1967)

In 1860 Benjamin, Rebecca and and daughter Laura (age 3 months) were living at Ashe County, North Carolina. In 1870 the family: Benjamin (age 29), Rebecca (age 29), Phenis B. (age 9), Ruda (age 6), Avary (age 4) and America (age 1) was living at Jefferson, Ashe County, North Carolina. In 1880 (taken 11-12 Jun 1880) the family (Benjamin (age 40), Rebecca (age 39), Finis B. (age 18), Nancy (daughter in-law, age 16, wife of Finis), Emmett R. (age 16), Avery (age 14), America (age 10), Edith F. (age 5) and Dora A. (age 1) were living at Jefferson, Ashe County, North Carolina. This brings into question some of the dates of the children shown above. Why wasn't Euphronia listed on the 1880 census? When did Edith die? Was Dora born 1879, not 1880? In 1900 Rebecca was living alone at Jefferson, Ashe County, North Carolina. She said she was the mother of eight, four living. Note this doesn't agree with the above listing, as five children were shown that lived past 1900. Living next door was the family of John Phillips (b. Feb 1866) with wife Saphrona (sic, should be Euphronia Faw Phillips) (b. Aug 1868) and many children. Was Euphronia really born in 1868 and the same child as America?
