Mrs. Lucy W. Pearson
Northampton, Jan 2 (AP) – Smith College girls lost one of their best friends today in the death of Mrs. Lucy Wright Pearson, 71, who conducted a student house for the past 25 years.
Mrs. Pearson, widow of Dana E. Pearson, died of pneumonia. A native of this city, she was graduated from Smith in 1886, was a former state secretary of the D.A.R., and active in woman’s clubs here. She leaves two daughters and two sons.

Mrs Lucy Wright Pearson, 71, died today at her home, 10 Henshaw avenue. She was born in this city January 16, 1864, and graduated from Smith college in 1886. For the past 25 years she had been in charge of a Smith college house at the address where she died. Her husband, Dana Pearson, died three years ago. Long interested in civic affairs she was a member of the Unitarian church, Betty Allen chapter, D.A.R., Northampton Women’s club, American Association of Women and was director of the Northampton Children’s home and once served as secretary of the state D.A.R. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs James T. Abbott of this city and Mrs John R. Gillum of Terre Haute, Ind.; and two sons, Chauncey of this city and Dana of New York. The funeral will be held at the Unitarian church Saturday afternoon at 2.30. Burial will be in Bridge street cemetery.
