MUNCIE--Betty Jean Blankenship, 84, passed away Saturday morning, December 3, 2011, surrounded by her children. She was born on March 11, 1927 in Muncie, the daughter of Walter and Lena (Sutton) Batt.
Betty married the love of her life, Vonley Willard Blankenship, on May 11, 1943, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1994. Mrs. Blankenship had worked in the kitchen at the Flamingo Restaurant for five years, mostly she was a homemaker. Family times with her children and grandchildren were very precious to her.
Besides her husband of 51 years, Vonley, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Blankenship in 1943, and Toni Pierce in 2007; one son, Vaughn Willard Blankenship in 1948; and brothers, William, James, David and Richard Batt.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, 1 p.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Kenneth Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1 p.m.
