John Flowers Temple was the son of James Harbert Temple and Drucilla "Drewsy" (Walker) Temple. He married Iantha W. Rosemond/Roseman, and together they had at least ten children:
1) Curtis Hughes Temple (1859-1931)
2) Harbert Anderson Temple (1861-)
3) John Thomas "Tom" Temple (1864-1951)
4) Malissa D. Temple (1868-)
5) William J. Temple (1870-)
6) Wilson H. Temple (1872-)
7) Etta Temple (1873-1951)
8) Iantha A. (Temple) Sproles (1871-)
9) James Henry "Jim" Temple (1876-1965)
10 Mattie Lucretia (1881-1965)
(Note: I have seen other children listed on Ancestry Trees to include Feneth and Keneth born in 1879, apparently twins, but I have found no documentation confirming these; please contact me if you have knowledge of these two names, or any other information.)
John was a CSA veteran Co. D, Miss Infantry (Information obtained from the Confederate soldier's Registry, provided by Lisa Gross Sanders, who originally created this memorial. Also, thanks to Valice Raffi, who provided copy of headstone application made by V. B. Temple in 1962, Charles F. Temple, and explained that death date of 1875 shown on the headstone was stated as death date on the application, but was more likely around 1883, despite what the headstone says. John is found in the 1880 census with wife Iantha, and daughter Mattie Lucretia was born in 1881. Many trees on Ancestry show 1883 as death date.) --DB
