TOWNVILLE — Evelyn E. Barber, 89, of 34101 State Highway 408, Townville, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at her residence.

Born in Townville on Aug. 6, 1919, she was a daughter of Homer and Grace Hunt Clark. She married William V. Kinnear on Oct. 21, 1941; he preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1986. She subsequently married Cleon M. Barber on March 23, 1988; he preceded her in death March 16, 1998.

She was a 1937 graduate of Townville High School and a graduate of Meadville Commercial College. She was a bookkeeper at Fahr Style Shop in Meadville and had worked at Clark's Mt. Hope Store and retired from Townville Red and White after 27 years.

She enjoyed cooking and sewing, and was an avid reader. She was a 65-year member of the former Steuben Grange 858, member of the Townville Women's Pierian Club, had served several years as the secretary of Townville Old Home Days and was a member of the Townville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

She was a member of Townville United Methodist Church and affiliated with Wayland Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Alene Kinnear and her companion, Frank Proper, of Townville; two sons, Bill Kinnear and his wife, Pat, of San Antonio, Texas, and Gary Kinnear and his wife, Linda, of Townville; a stepson, Timothy Barber and his wife, Viola, or Meadville; a sister, Laura Jane Kosik of Townville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two sisters, Autum Gill and Helen Caldwell; and a brother, Homer Clark Jr.

At Evelyn's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral.

A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Harlan Nefstead of Wayland Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery, Townville.

Memorials may be made to Townville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Townville, Pa. 16360.
