Ann and her husband both taught school for a while in Polk County, then moved to White Plains, New York where Cleaston continued teaching and studying at Columbia University, and Ann lovingly cared for her sons. Some of their favorite memories are of her taking them to the many sights New York offered, plays, parks, art museums, and other educational sites of interest.
Ann was very involved in heritage societies such as the United Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a faithful attendee at the meetings as long as she was able.
