Elder Calvin G. Byrom
Spanish-American War Veteran Dies
Funeral Services for Elder Calvin G. Byrom, 59, who died at his home near Estill Springs, Saturday evening, April 18, were held Sunday afternoon from the Baptist Church at Mount Olivet, with the Rev. J. M. Walker of Fayetteville officiating. Burial was in the Mount Olivet Church cemetery.
Elder Byrom answered his country's call and marched under its flag during the Spanish-American War. He was a minister of the primitive Baptist Church, having preached for 32 years.
Pallbearers were the following Spanish-American War veterans: John Jones, Taylor Brazier, Pate Womack, Roy Best, Ed Arnold and Oscar Buchanan.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Deaton Byrom; a daughter, Sarah Lou Byrom; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Byrom; a brother, Harry Byrom, and one sister, Mrs. Sam Bailey. -Buy Bonds
