WESTMINSTER - Archie Lee Powell, 94, husband of the late Henry Louie Green Powell of 539 Myers St. passed away Saturday, July 1, at his home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 4 at the Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Flowers are accepted. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 5 from the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home in Westminster. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.
Born in Oconee County on January 15, 1912 he was the oldest member of Westminster Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Westminster Masonic Lodge where he was also the oldest member. He was a retired mechanic with Milliken's Defore Plant.
Survivors include son William H. Powell and wife Helen of Westminster; daughters Rachel Powell Brown and husband Jerrold of Mt. Pleasant, Thelma Powell Burton and husband Billy of Westminster and Linda M. Powell Hedden and husband Wayne of Mountain Rest; brother, Paul of Westminster; sisters, Clyde Wilson of Westminster, Helen Salermia of California and Ida Mae Weber of Summerville; 14 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and six step children.
Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife Henry Louie; his parents, Archie Burt and Beatrice Andrews Powell; son, Archie Lee Powell, Jr.; brothers, Almon, David and Robert Powell; sisters, Edna Voyles, Muriel Jaynes, Maude Walker and Zell Powell; and one grandson. Sandifer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
