Anna was born on July 12, 1864 to Samuel and Caroliene (Runde) Sabrowsky in Bienau, Osterode, East Prussia. She was baptized on September 19, 1864 in the Evangelische Kirche in Gross Schmuckwalde, Ostrode, Allenstein, East Prussia, Prussia. Her father is a blacksmith.

She immigrated to America about 1884 and settled near Chaska, Carver, Minnesota.

She married Herman Birr on June 28, 1885 in Carver County, Minnesota. W. Raedeke, Minister of the Gospel performed the ceremony. The witnesses were Fred Ehrlichmann and August Sabrowsky.

In 1887 they moved to a farm near Albany, Stearns, Minnesota. They had 10 children. After the death of Hermann, she lived with her son, Emil Birr on the farm.

Left to mourn her death were 4 sons, Emil (Alma Jopp) Birr, Louis (Frieda Schleicher) Birr, Gustav Albert (Elfreida Jopp) Birr and Walter Samuel (Evelyn Duhring) Birr; and 2 daughters, Clara (Karl) Bjorkquist and Helen (Paul) Radke.

She was preceded in death by her husband on October 18, 1930; her parents; 2 sons, Herman Friedrich Birr (infant) and William Karl Birr (child); 2 daughters, Emma Theresa Birr (child) and Emma Birr (infant; 2 brothers, August (Henrietta Baumgart) Sabrowsky and Friedrich Jacob Sabrowsky (child in Prussia); and 5 sisters, Wilhelmina Sabrowsky, Johanna Sabrowsky and Caroline Sabrowsky (all died in Prussia as children), Marie (Louis) Gawe and Justine (Gottfried) Eggert.

The funeral was officiated by Rev. Erhard Roth on July 4, 1948 in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery following the service.
