George Washington Arrowood was born on 10 May 1841. He was the first child of William Joseph Arrowood and Elizabeth Anderson.

When he was 22, he married Frances "Fannie" Lenora Oglesby, daughter of Charles Franklin Oglesby and Martha Jane Brinkley, on 03 Jun 1863 in Coryell County, Texas, and were the parents of four daughters:

1. Ida E Arrowood was born in 1866 in Coryell County, Texas. She married John Edmundson. She died in 1937 and is buried in the Clinton City Cemetery, Clinton, Custer County, Oklahoma, USA
2. Martha Arrowood was born on 06 Jun 1868 in Coryell County, Texas. She died on 02 Dec 1961 in San Angelo, Tom Green, Texas, USA (Age: 93). She married John Green Loudder in 1890.
3. Alta Frances Arrowood was born on 26 Jun 1872 in Coryell Co., Texas. She died on 23 Aug 1940 in Tyler, Smith County, Texas.
4. Frances Lenora Arrowood was born on 07 Sep 1871 in Gatesville, Texas. She died on 22 Dec 1958 in Lockney, Motley Co., Texas. She married Hiram Daniel Wedeman on 28 Jan 1890 in Gatesville, Coryell Co., Texas.

He married Sarah "Sally" Ann Karnes, daughter of Charles Thomas Karnes and Mary Holmes, in 1878. They had the following children:
1. Annie Mae Arrowood was born in Sep 1879 in Texas. She died on 15 Dec 1909 in Travis County, Texas. Married Josh Tharp 1899 in Coryell County. They were the parents of three children.
2. George Washington Arrowood Jr. was born on 27 May 1880 in Coryell County, Texas, USA. He died on 17 Feb 1924 in Waco, McLennan, Texas, USA (Age: 44). He married Ida Lena Pheffer about 1908.
3. Maude Arrowood was born on 11 Dec 1882 in Near Pecan Grove, Coryell, Texas. She died on 13 Dec 1955 Near Pecan Grove, Coryell Co., Texas (Age: 73). She married Leonard Alexander Ivy in 1917.
