WILDA SPEICHER RITES SEPTEMBER 10

Wilda Pearl Brethouwer Speicher was born 13 miles south of Holyoke January 27, 1915, the first child of Everett and Nellie Brethouwer. After an extended illness, she went to her eternal reward September 7, 1984.

She spent her childhood days in the area where she was born and obtained her Grade School and High School education at Hillsdale County School in Yuma County.

On September 28, 1935 Wilda became the bride of Bernard V. Speicher of Wray. To this union were born two sons, Delton and Darlow. They have resided at the present home site seven miles south of Holyoke for the past 37 years.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard Speicher of Holyoke; two sons, Delton Speicher of Lebanon, Missouri and Darlow Speicher of Holyoke; seven granddaughters; two grandsons; three brothers, Kenneth Brethouwer of Provo, Utah; Jerry Brethouwer of Imperial, Nebraska; and Warren Brethouwer, of Cedaridge and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many beloved neighbors and friends.

Tho' she is gone her life and influence will live on. On January 28, 1946 Wilda accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and endeavored to live a life devoted to Him. For years she has been a member of Victory Temple Assembly of God of Holyoke and faithfully supported her pastors and church family. Her gentle nature endeared her to family and friends.

To her brothers, she was affectionately known as "sis" and tho she was older, they always sought to be her ‘protectors' and she in turn ‘Mothered' them during childhood years. To her beloved companion she was as great a help-mate as a man could desire. She loved her grandchildren dearly and some of her greatest joy of later years came from their presence.

Paul's words "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain" surely describe her life and we cherish the hope that we shall meet again in that day when "Death shall be swallowed up in Victory."

Services were held for Wilda Speicher at Victory Temple Assembly of God September 10, 1984. Officiating Pastor was Kelly Sherlock, assisted by Bill Beard of Loveland and Dwight Chaffin of Holyoke. Organist was Mrs. Dan Converse. Vocalists were Marcia Buxman of Wray, Terry Beard and Bill Beard of Loveland. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Thompson Mortuary of Holyoke.
