He was born on September 25, 1919 in Lawrenceburg, TN, the son of the late E.B and Mary Stockard.
On August 6, 1952, he married Dorothy J. (Smedley) Stockard and she died August 18, 2009.
James is survived by seven children, Richard (Wanda) Woolley, Piqua, Ron (Jacque) Woolley, Beavercreek, Judy Tiley, Union, Carol (Fred) Stephens, Scot Woolley and Dean (Linda Cory, fiance') Woolley, all of Sidney, and Lorene (Cornell) Shoptaw, Kentucky; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
James is also survived by three sisters and three brothers, Marie Klepac, California, Nelva Reed, Alabama, Anna Bell (Clarence) Remke, Tennessee, Duel (Bonnie) Stockard, Michigan, Ernest (Venita) Stockard, Illinois, and Virgil (Mary) Stockard, of California.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Janet L. Woolley and three brothers, Kenneth, Hershel and Leon Stockard.
James retired from Copeland Corporation after 37 years of dedicated service. He was a devoted Cincinnati Reds fan and loved watching them of TV. He was a member of The First Christian Church, Sidney.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, by the Rev. Philip Chilcote officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
Family and friends may call from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at the funeral home.
