Lawrence W. Nash, 82, of 951 Williams St., Village of Biron, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Jim Altman will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Lawrence was born May 22, 1929, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Vincent and Patricia (Sailor) Nash. He married Margaret T. Siegler on Aug. 20, 1949, in Wisconsin Rapids.

Lawrence was a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a member of the National Guard Red Arrow Division from 1948 until 1951. Lawrence was employed at Consolidated Papers Inc. Biron Division as a tester, then progressed through the technician positions and was named testing supervisor in 1971. He was employed at the mill for 39 years, retiring in 1991.

Lawrence served the Village of Biron as village treasurer for 14 years and as deputy constable for four years. He served on the Biron Volunteer Fire Department for 33 years, and in those years served as treasurer, assistant chief and as fire chief for 16 years. Lawrence also served as deputy fire marshal for the state of Wisconsin and as president of the South Central Wisconsin Volunteer Fireman's Association.

Lawrence was a Boy Scout leader, was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1558 of Wisconsin Rapids and a member of the American Legion Drum & Bugle Corps. Lawrence was dedicated to his family, always attending his children's and grandchildren's activities. He was always happiest when with his family all together.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Margaret; four children, Patsy (Bob) Kell of Wisconsin Rapids, Cindy (Jim) Boyd of Wisconsin Rapids, Kathleen (Bob) Schultz of Wisconsin Rapids, and Bill (Colleen) Nash of Verona; son-in-law, Thomas Lobner of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren, Sarah Poblocki, Susan (Ben) Miller, Lori (Jeff) Klevene, Lisa (Brian) Dupree, Jacob Schultz, Dan Schultz, Jenny Schultz, Taylor Nash, Katie Nash and Mickey Nash; five great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, May Mahoney, Bette (John) Brown, and Jerry (Rose) Nash.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Peggy Lobner; two brothers, Vincent Nash and Jim Nash; and sister, Anita Yowe
