Arline Marie (Filer) Holub, 86, of Waco, entered into Eternal Rest Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at a local hospital surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father John Guzaldo as celebrant. Internment will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours, Texas.
Arline was born to the late Albert and Katie (Holzer) Filer on June 26, 1926. She grew up and attended school in Leroy, Texas and graduated from West High School. She married the late Johnnie Holub on January 28, 1945 in Tours, Texas. They moved to Waco shortly after and went into the small grocery store business with her parents. She later worked at Owens Illinois Glass Plant and Montgomery Ward, from which she retired.
She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to her four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was very dedicated to her faith and her beloved parish, St. Louis Catholic Church. Arline cherished her relationships with her family and friends. Growing up as an only child, she thoroughly enjoyed the Holub siblings she gained in marriage and considered them her brothers and sisters. Arline was known for her talents and has left many remembrances of crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, and paintings for her family and friends to treasure. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, word finds, gardening and bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Johnnie Holub, son, Dennis Holub; and grandson, Steven Holub.
She is survived by her children, Larry Holub and wife, Gayle, of Waco, Beverly Dobiyanski and husband, Jerry, of Lake Limestone, and Eileen Kubala and husband, Charles, of McGregor; grandchildren, Scott Holub and wife, Elaine, Vicki Dobiyanski, Christopher Kubala, Kristen Holub, Dustin Holub, Brian Dobiyanski and wife, Kayla, and Emily Kubala. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob Holub and another expected in July.
Pallbearers will be Scott Holub, Christopher Kubala, Dustin Holub, Brian Dobiyanski, David Holub, and David McCauley. Honorary Pallbearer is J.W. Redden, Jr.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at St. Catherine's Center for their dedicated service, care, and compassion, where she resided for the past 18 months.
