Sarah E. Burkett, born March 12, 1850 near Fincastle passed to rest October 24, 1931. With her marriage to Milton T. Bowers, Nov 26, 1868, she had a home that.... She united with Fincastle Evangelical Church on December 5, 1897 and has been a devoted and loyal member. Funeral services were held in the home on Monday, Oct 26th The husband was confined to his bed as he has long been in poor health and expressed the wish that he might have gone when his loving companion of over 50 years left him desolate. And his wish was almost granted, for he passed away on Wednesday, Oct 28th and relatives and friends assembled at the home for the last time on Friday, the 30th for since there were no children the home is gone forever but the memory of it will ever last with those who enjoyed the friendship of the two who so beautifully lived. Both services were conducted by Rev. Pearl M. Mock of Oaklandon.
