Born June 17, 1860 in Sutton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England to Charles Foster and Anna Brownlow. His family moved to the United States in 1867, with his father obtaining his naturalization papers in Aurora, IL on March 25, 1872.

Edwin W. Foster was born at Sutton upon Trent, England, June 17, 1860 and passed away at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 7 days.

Mr. Foster came to this country with his parents April 7, 1867, locating at Aurora, IL, later moving to Gowrie, Iowa. A few years later he learned to be a telegrapher under his brother Will at Havelock, Iowa, working at various places before going to Gifford, Iowa, at which place he served 5 years for the C & N W Railroad.

At this place Mr. Foster and Allie Ankrum were united in marriage on September 11, 1889, later moving to Lawn Hill where he served the C & N W Railroad and community as station agent in his faithful and accommodating way for nearly thirty years.

Mr. Foster was affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church at England and followed that faith after coming to this country.

To Mr. and Mrs. Foster were born four children, Walter Raymond, Edwin Wayne, Wilma Lucille and Nellie Marie, who all reside here except Nellie whose home is in Peoria, IL.

Mrs. Foster preceded her husband in death December, 8, 1920.

Due to failing in health, Mr. Foster retired from active service and move to his present home at Lawn Hill. The past year and one-half making his home with his son Walter and daughter Lucille at whose home he quietly passed away, all the children being at his bedside when he was called home. He was a loving and devoted father, patiently bearing his sickness for the last few years.

Those who mourn his loss are his four children, 4 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Alfred and Will of LaCrosse, WI, a number of other relatives and friends.

Rev. Ed Thompson, of Sully, conducted the funeral services. The singers were Lloyd Perisho, Earl Marsh, Otis Rash and Vern Hobson. The pall bearers were Henry, Otto and Louie Kasischke, E. V. Moon, W. A. Johnson and Will Hall. Burial in the Shepherd Cemetery by the side of his wife.
