Kathy Kapelewski Skrupa, 46, of 225 Forest Hill Drive died Wednesday at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Skrupa was a life resident of Syracuse . She was a legal secretary for 20 years with several local law firms. Mrs. Skrupa was a 1960 graduate of Sacred Heart High School.

Mrs. Skrupa was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Mrs. Skrupa was founder and president of the Forest Hill Drive Neighborhood Association, which renovated the curbing and did landscaping on the street. She also was active with political organizations, including campaigning for Common Councilor Joseph Nicoletti.

Surviving are her husband, Michael; two daughters, Katie and Julie Skrupa, both at home; her parents, Chester and Lillian Kapelewski of Syracuse ; two brothers, Michael of San Diego, Calif., and John Kapelewski of Manlius; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. April 15 in Blessed Sacrament Church, where a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by the Rev. John Wagner and the Rev. Phillip Hearn. Private burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

Contributions may be made to any organization assisting the homeless
