Funeral services for Mrs. Clarissa Lourina Raby, 83, who died Saturday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dwight L. Parris of Franklin, RFD 3, after a lingering illness, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Oak Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Clarence Taylor, pastor, and the Rev. J.D. Pyatt, pastor of the Snow Hill Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hargrove and Rudolph Parrish, Richard Raby, Harold Martin, Ralph Bradley, and George Bryd.

Surviving in addition to Mrs. Parrish, are three sons, Jess J. Raby of Indian Head, Maryland, Arvin Raby of Waldorf, Maryland, and Don Raby, of Franklin, RFD 3. Four daughters, Mrs. Mae Belle Raby of Franklin, RFD 3, Mrs. Floyd Martin and Mrs. Ed L. Whittington of Franklin, Mrs. Charles A. Weaver of Kingston, Tennessee; 33 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The body will remain at the Potts Funeral Home until the funeral hour. She was born 24 Nov 1868, the daughter of the late Joshua and Sophronia Wilds Byrd, was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and was married 4 Mar 1886, to Charles A. Raby who died in 1919.

Clarissa had 11 children, 8 of whom were still living as of the 1910 census. In the book by Larry Fobes, these additional children are listed beyond the 8 children with known burial locations:

2- Minnie Raby (1889-1893).
