J. M. Wadhams, 3d, Dies At 52; Was Torrington Banker.
John Marsh Wadhams, 3d, 52, vice-president and treasurer of the Torrington Savings Bank, died suddenly at his home Friday morning. Death was due to natural causes. He was also a director of Brooks Bank and Trust Company and director and vice-president of Brooks and McNeil, Inc.
Born in Goshen, he was a graduate of Yale University Class of 1918, and during World War I held the rank of lieutenant in the Army. His father, John M. Wadhams, who died here in 1941, was a former State senator and chairman of the State Board of Finance and former president of the Torrington Savings Bank.
Mr. Wadhams was a corporator of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital; treasurer of the Maria Seymour Brooker Memorial and the Torrington Chapter, American Red Cross; secretary of the Torrington Library and the Hillside Cemetery Association; corporator and auditor of the Torrington Historical Society and president of the John Brown Association. He was a member of the Litchfield County University Club, Seneca Lodge, AF and AM, the Exchange Club, Torrington Country Club and the Torrington Club.
He leaves his wife, Sela Frost Wadhams of Torrington; a son, John M. Wadhams, Jr. of Torrington; three daughters, Mrs. Barbara Youngbluth of Miami, Fla, Mrs. Ann Cobrain of Hamden and Mrs. Sela Barker of New Haven; and a grandson, Timothy Youngbluth.
