Emerson, 93, of Lake Odessa, passed away Thursday, at Heartland Health Care in Ionia.
He was the son of Earl and Essie (Webster) Lehman.

Emerson attended Goddard Rural School and graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1936. Following his graduation Emerson joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and was involved in planting thousands of Pine Trees in Northern Michigan.

He was married to Phyllis Kimmel on March 29, 1941 in Woodland and have lived and farmed on the same farm in Sebewa Township their entire married life.

Emerson, together with Phyllis, served as 4-H Leaders for 17 years and were Superintendents of the Lake Odessa Fair Youth Horse Show for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing, walking, trail rides and square dancing but most of all was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Phyllis Lehman; children, Sharon Davis of Sunfield, Sue (Don) Cooley of Byron Center and Denny (Nadja) Lehman of Lansing; 12 grand children; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Newton of Woodland and Betty Baghai of Massachusetts.

Funeral Services for Emerson were conducted on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Todd Lehman, Jeff Lehman, J.J. Lehman, Don Cooley, Troy Cooley, Mark Davis, Adam McArthur and Allen Apsey.
