FROM THE BRENHAM BANNER PRESS:
A FATAL ACCOUNT -- On Sunday afternoon between three and four o'clock, while Mr. D. Imhoff and wife, who live at Berlin, six miles west of the city, were away from home visiting at a neighbor's house, their two sons, Henry and John, who are twins aged 12 years, and John the ten-year old son of Mr. Bode, a neighbor, got hold of a quantity of powder, which they put into a glass bottle and went into the yard, where the Bode boy applied fire to it and touched it off. A terrific explosion and loud report followed. Henry Imhoff was struck under the chin and his throat was blacked with powder burns. There was no abrasion of the skin and no wound could be found, but his face and jaws began to swell enormously and blood flowed from his nostrils. It is believed that very fine particles of glass too small to make perceptible wounds distinguishable under the black powder penetrated the flesh. The little sufferer died at 5 o'clock on Monday morning. The other two boys escaped unharmed.
