Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 29, at the Kinmundy United Methodist Church for Dwight James Alexander, 77, of Kinmundy, with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy, with military rites by Kinmundy American Legion Post 519 at graveside.
Alexander died at 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, at his home. He was born in Kinmundy on July 7, 1934, the son of Reverend Dwight Jackson Alexander and Nellie Ruth (Smith) Alexander. On August 27, 1960, he married Barb J. Allen at Kinmundy Christian Church.
As a technician, he retired from the Illinois Depart. of Transportation District #7 of Effingham, and had worked for Williams Parts and ACCO, both of Salem. He was an Army veteran, a member of Kinmundy United Methodist Church and Kinmundy American Legion Post 519.
Survivors include: his wife of Kinmundy; and sisters, Joann Heffernan and husband Dr. Hal of Danville and Jean Buchka and husband Louis of Urbana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the SSM Hospice of Illinois at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital, American Heart Association, Kinmundy/Alma EMTS or donor's choice. The Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy is in charge of arrangements.
