She was born in Muncie in 1924 to Edward and Lela Bird. Alice attended Muncie schools and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman LaChat; two sisters, Ann Peters and Judith Bird; and three brothers, Donnie Bird, Tony Bird, and Fred Bird.
Alice leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Marjorie Barlow (husband-Thomas), Muncie; a son, Larry LaChat, Selma; four grandchildren, Joseph Thomas Barlow (wife-Jada), Muncie, John Norman Barlow (wife-Terra), Noblesville, Patricia Grace Freeman (husband-John), Algonquin, Ill., and Owen Joseph LaChat, Muncie; three great-grandchildren, Tara Barlow, Muncie, Sara Barlow, Muncie, and Sidney Caroline Freeman, Algonquin, Ill.; two sisters, Rosella Cartwright, Muncie, and Betty Jennings, Marion; and four brothers, Edward Bird, Ray Bird, Gary Bird, and Mike Bird, all of Muncie.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday at The Gardens of Memory Chapel. Friends may call at the cemetery after 10 a.m. Monday. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Garden View Funeral Home.
