Disputes in DAR state that Nancy was not the daughter of Peter Hitt and his wife Sarah, however this is disproven by the facts that she is mentioned as his daughter Nancy Miller in his will and in the division of his slaves following his death, an equal part are given to her husband John Miller. Husbands were responsible for their wives' property. The names of the husbands of her sisters, still married, are also given in this document. These two documents prove, undeniably that Nancy was the daughter or Peter Hitt and Sarah James.
