Mass of Christian burial celebrating the life of Marcella Marie Katzner, age 88 of Albany will be 11 AM, Friday, November 25, 2011 at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany. Father Michael Naughton will officiate, and burial will take place in the parish cemetery following the service. Marcella died peacefully Tuesday morning at Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany surrounded by her family. There will be a visitation Friday morning at the church from 9 AM until the time of the service. Arrangements are being made with the Miller-Carlin Brenny Funeral Home in Albany.

Marcella was born March 25, 1923 to Peter and Elizabeth (Denne) Moonen. She married Leo Joseph Katzner on October 28, 1941 in St. Anthony. After Leo's passing, she later married Earl Kraus on April 18, 1980. She lived her entire life in the Albany/Cold Spring area. Marcella worked as a home-maker raising 6 children, as a cook at Sand's Restaurant in Albany, and as a housekeeper at St. John's. She was a member of Seven Dolors Church, Christian Mothers, the Parish Life Committee, and she served on the Board of Directors at the Cold Spring Senior Center and Oak Parks Villa. She was a member of the Intergenerational Choir at St. Boniface, and also was a past President and Treasurer of the St. Jude's Mission Group in Albany.

Marcella is survived by her children Joann (Sylvester) Ludwig, Roscoe; Joseph (Sue) Katzner, Rice; Norman (Juli) Katzner, Roscoe; Leo (Cindy) Katzner, Shakopee; Allen Katzner, Roscoe; Dennis (Linda) Katzner, Albany; her sister Lorraine Klimmek, Melrose; Earl's children Rachel and Sharon; her 19 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, husbands Leo Katzner who passed away on May 25, 1976, Earl Kraus who passed away in 1990. Marcella's siblings Emil Moonen, Robert Moonen, Victor Moonen, Werner Moonen, Richard Moonen, Anne LeVasseur, Esther Dirkes, Alma Westbrock, Juletta Nierengarten, Dorothy Moonen, infant sister Lucella Moonen, grand child Betty Ludwig, Earl's children Jim and Yvonne, and friend Vince Kunkel

Noah is Marcella's great grandson
