A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 19 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich for Lorraine Klimmek who died Tuesday at the CentraCare Nursing Home in Melrose. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the church in New Munich.
Lorraine Rose Moonen was born April 20, 1925 in rural Krain Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Peter and Elizabeth (Denne) Moonen. She was united in marriage to Herman Robert Klimmek on January 28, 1944 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Saint Anthony. Lorraine worked as a bartender in New Munich for over 40 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich. Lorraine enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, dancing, going to the casino, and loved cooking holiday dinners for her family, especially Christmas dinner.
Survivors include her children, Joyce (David) Carpenter of Golden Valley, Karen (Gary) Brusacoram of Minnetonka, Glenn (Sandy) Klimmek of Swanville, Elaine (Bill) Ecker of Perham, and Audrey (Dale) Juveland of Detroit Lakes; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Robert Klimmek on January 4, 2004; son, Roger Klimmek; brothers, Richard, Victor, Robert, Werner, and Emil Moonen; and sisters, Marcella Kraus, Dorothy Moonen, Esther Dirkes, Alma Westbrook, Anna LeVasseur, Juletta Nierengarten.
