Jean was born Feb. 23, 1937, in Fargo, the daughter of Vernon and Elvina (Wien) Anderson. She was raised and educated in West Fargo, graduating from West Fargo High School. After graduation, Jean attended Valley City Teachers College, graduating with the class of 1957 with a two-year Teacher's Certificate.

Jean moved to Glendive in August 1957, where she taught at Lincoln School for three years and private kindergarten for four years. In August 1974, Jean went to work for JCPenney's catalog department until October 1974, when she began a long career with Montana Dakota Utilities, until her retirement in 1999.

Jean met the love of her life, Lawrence A. Zeller, in the fall of 1958 and they were united in marriage on May 16, 1959, in Miles City, Mont. To this union four children were born.

Jean had a strong belief in faith. She was a deacon for many years and loved to read the lessons and scriptures during church services. Jean delivered church bulletins to the shut-ins and enjoyed these visits very much. She was very proud of these accomplishments! When Jean was troubled, she found great comfort in going to the Zion Lutheran Church and playing the piano.

Jean loved to do crafts, especially ceramics, embroidering dishtowels, making pillow cases, hook and latch and she was an avid seamstress. Her children do not remember having any store bought clothes until they reached high school. Jean was proud to share this talent with her first granddaughter, Shasta.

Jean was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, serving on church councils and teaching Sunday school; Women of the Zion Lutheran Church, serving as past secretary and past president; she was a regular attendee of the Montana Dakota Utility Retiree Club; a charter member of the Busy Bee Homemakers Club, which was formed in 1964; part of the Secret Pal Club and the Red Hat Society.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Elvina; her husband, Larry Zeller; infant daughter, Zondra Lea; one brother, Daryl Anderson; two sisters, Linda Jenkins and Judy Anderson; and one son-in-law, David Fleck.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda (Mike) Hofmann, Worden, Mont., and Lori Fleck, Phoenix; one son, Clete (Linda) Zeller, Manorville, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Shasta (Kevin) Van Matre, Bismarck, Brad (Becky Reyes) Hoffman, Bremerton, Wash., Cara Hofmann, Worden, Derek Brackel and Ashley Brackel, both of Elgin, and Lindsey, Cole and Lacey Zeller, Manorville; one brother, Monte (Karen) Anderson, Perham, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Dian (Joe) Hartman, Carson; and special friends, Rosaline Doll, Glenda Labree, Sandy Anderson and Gladys Glaser.
