Mrs. Adams was born in Edgefield to the late Joseph Samuel Lanham and Ethel Jennings Lanham. She was the widow of the late Rev. Mark S. Adams. She attended Bettis Academy, Benedict College and South Carolina State University. She was a graduate of Allen University and was a retired teacher from the Edgefield Public School System. She joined Jeter Baptist Church at an early age.
Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Adams McCain (Joseph) and Thyra Adams Briggs (Willie); a sister, Ruby Lanham Campbell, Rochester, New York; two grandsons.
