MRS. ROY GORDON GOES TO REWARD
The sad death of Mrs. Roy Gordon, aged 26, came as a shock to her many friends throughout the county. She died at the Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta on Monday, October 1st, from an operation for goiter. She had been ill some six weeks.
She was the young wife & mother and was reared in the Liberty community. Before her marriage about 10 years ago she was Miss Mary Grace Andrews. She was a member of Liberty church and an upright Christian, doing all she could to make the world a better place for those about her. Devoted to family, kind to all with whom she came in contact, this young mother will be greatly missed in the home and community.
Funeral services were held at Liberty church on Tuesday morning with Rev. E. H. Collins & Rev. S. E. Macomson in charge of the services. Interment was in Liberty cemetery. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives & friends attended the funeral.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mary Frances & Margaret; five brothers, Felton, of Toccoa, R. E., Joe Brown, Lamb, Lonnie Andrews of Carnesville, two half brothers, Charles and Marvin Andrews, of Elberton, two sisters, Bernice(Claude) Ward, and Martha(Joe) Akin of Carnesville and many other relatives.
Pallbearers were Odis Fleming, Hoyt Fleming, C. J. Gordon, all of Commerce, Berry Gordon of Canon, Lee Segars of Ashland and Felton Freeman of Commerce.
