Sam was born February 6, 1948 to John Baptist and Betty Modica in Beaumont, Texas.
Sam loved poetry and writing and publishing his own poems. Just prior to his death he had his first book published, The Chronicles of Sam in Nam.
He also had a special love for his grandchildren and music too.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. for 3 years during the Vietnam conflict and was a member of the Dallas area VVA chapter 137.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joanie Modica and granddaughter Kylea McDermott.
He is survived by his loving wife Channie Modica, daughter Sammi Gamero, sons: Johnathan and Chance Modica, grandchildren Xavier, Damieon, Ariel, Asiah and Jesse, brother Pete Modica, sisters: Regina Anderson and Janet Schroeder.
Memorial Service will be 10am Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Roselawn Cemetery and Funeral Home in Seagoville, Texas.
Graveside Services will be 3pm Wednesday November 23, 2011 at DFW National Cemetery where Military Honors will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Association.
