ZICKEFOOSE , Paul D. 89, died peacefully Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Trinity Retirement Community in Beavercreek, Ohio. Born in Hemlock, West Virginia to the late Orva and Eunice Zickefoose.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 65 years, Marie Zickefoose; two loving children Vickie (Chuck) Jackson of Newton, Iowa and Dave (Sue) Zickefoose of Beavercreek, Ohio; five loving grandchildren Amy Zickefoose Yost, David Jason (Lisa) Zickefoose, Rachel (Aaron) Wood, Carrie (Caleb) March, Ben (Megan) Jackson; 13 great grandchildren, Phillip, Colin, Aubrey, Kelsey Yost; Maren and Jack Zickefoose, Camden, Acacia, Auriel, Asher, Corbin Wood; Hayden, Cace March; sister Jan (Bob) Elson of Indiana; and brother Margel (Tomi) Zickefoose of Waynesville, Ohio. Paul is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Delma (Ron) Zickefoose.

Paul is retired from NCR Corporation after serving 34 years. He worked at CCC camps for 6 months before WWII broke out. He served in WWII with the Air Force. He stayed stateside and was stationed in Alaska where he taught classes for using the Morse code. Raised in the hills of West Virginia, he became skilled in many areas of wood working and gardening, which became his lifelong hobbies. Paul was a good cook. He often fixed supper and had it ready when mom got home from work. He also accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 12.

Family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00AM Monday, November 14, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd with services to follow at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton.
