Mr. Dewell K. Stevens, age 77, of Lebanon, Virginia passed away Sunday (November 20, 2011) at a Lebanon, Virginia nursing facility. Born September 5, 1934 in Bee, Virginia, he was a son of the late Rev. Roy Davis and Mary Lovis Farmer Stevens. A lifelong resident of the area, he was of the Pentecostal Faith. He served his country in the United States Army for three years. A retired coal miner, he was formerly employed at Moss 3 Preparation Plant and was a member of United Mine Workers of America.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two sisters, Nadine Stevens Eaton and Ruby Agnes Stevens.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Stevens of the home; one daughter, Tamera Diane Stevens Mitchell of the home; one son, Ricky Stevens and fiancée, Emma Adams of Hansonville, Virginia; grandson, Mason Coty Mitchell of the home; four sisters, Carolyn Stevens, Phyllis Stapleton and husband, Eddie, Donna Hart and husband, Charlie and Rhonda Stevens all of Lebanon, Virginia; two brothers, Harold Wayne Stevens and wife, Iva and Darrell Stevens and wife, Thelma both of Lebanon, Virginia; special brother-in-law, Eddie Ball of Hillsville, Virginia; six sisters-in-law, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Tiller, Rev. Doug Murray and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Entombment will follow in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon, Virginia. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9864 of Lebanon, Virginia.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be brothers, brothers-in-law, Winfred Stevens, Scotty Bryant, J.J. Cole, J.J. Osborne, John Hobson, Randy Williams, Joe Dotson, Greg Lambert, Gary Lambert, and Jim Hill.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Tuesday where an evening song service will be conducted at 7 PM.
