Andrew 'Andy' Miller Sr.

Andrew "Andy" Miller Sr., 74, of the Trombley Road, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at the CVPH Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Ellenburg Center on March 4, 1937, the son of John and Blanche (LaClair) Miller.

Andy married the former Betty Burnell on June 14, 1958, in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.

He worked on the family farm for many years and before going to work at Northern Adirondack Central School as a custodian, retiring after 37 years of service in 1999 as a mechanic and bus driver. Andy enjoyed many things in life including hunting, camping, working with his family cutting wood, gardening and especially going to the casino with his wife and friends.

Most of all, Andy had a great love for his family. He dedicated his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. One of his greatest joys was sitting in his chair at the holidays and watching the family arrive car by car to celebrate together.

Andy was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church where he served as Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was also a 4th degree Knight with the St. Augustine Knights of Columbus in Malone.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Betty, of Ellenburg Center; one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew "Andy" and Nancy Miller Jr. of Ellenburg; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Cindy Miller and her companion, Mark Trombley, of North Bangor, Christina and Randy Trombley of Ellenburg Depot, Sherry and Louis LaValley of Ellenburg Depot, and Lisa and Charles Longtemps of Ellenburg Center; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Roma and Mary Miller, Maynard Miller, Joseph and Mary Miller, and Raymond and Linda Miller; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Grace Bishman, Theresa Rockhill, and Shirley and Ronnie LaFave; seven grandchildren, Eric and Tricia LaValley, Bryan and Kristin Trombley, Brock and Noelle Trombley, Nathan LaValley and his companion Lauren Carter, Nicholas Trombley and his companion Courtney Bilow, Maegan LaValley and her companion Mike Moran, and Devin Longtemps; one great-grandson, Ashton Trombley and two great-grandchildren he was anxiously waiting to see; several nieces and nephews; and his loving canine companion, Brownie.

He was predeceased by one brother, Alton Miller, and his wife, Margie; two sisters, June Miesch and Joann Miller, who died at birth; and two brothers-in-law, Edward Bischman and Rupert Rockhill.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.

Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements have been entrusted into the caring hands of the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Rt. 11, Ellenburg, (518) 594-3111.
