Roma E. Miller, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus. Born in Ellenburg Center, he moved to Syracuse in 1952. He was employed with Anheuser-Busch for 10 years before retiring in 1994. He previously worked for Onondaga Beverage and Sheehan Distributing. Roma was an avid handyman and fixer upper. He also loved to travel. He was a member of Taunton Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of almost 70 years, the former Mary Smith; daughter, Yvette Newton of Fabius; sons, Roy of Syracuse and Roma (Judy) of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, RJ (Sheena) Miller of Vancouver, WA, Erica (Eric) Shaffer of Phoenix, NY, Kyle Newton of Oswego and Nadine Newton of Otisco; great-grandson, Eric Shaffer; and several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Roma will be laid to rest in Howlett Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Tipperary Hill American Legion Post #1361, 1951 W. Fayette St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
