DERBY, Va. — Dennis A. Cooper, 60, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2007) at his home.
He lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap, Va. and had been a resident of Derby for the past four years.
He worked in various occupations. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in two tours of duty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, FLoyd Eugene and Helen (Stitt) Cooper; and a brother, U.S. Army Capt. Russell Cooper.
Surviving are two sons, Jason and Brandon Cooper; three sisters, Imogene Herron and husband, Gary, of Pacific, Mo., Christine Driver of Mableton, Ga. and Cathy Schuman and husband, Rod, of New Port Richey, Fla.; three brothers, James T. Cooper of Jackson, Tenn., Kyle S. Cooper and wife, Bobbie and Kenneth E. Cooper and wife, Libby, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Robert and Barbara Mullins of Derby, Va., along with Robert's grandchildren, Grayson Weiant and Lexis Brickey.
Family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Military graveside rites, by local V.F.W. members, and services conducted by Rev. Roger Barker will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends will serve as pallbearers.
