Lumber manufacturer, meat packer and shipper, warehouse proprietor, all on a large scale, in Racine, Wisconsin. Elected the first mayor of the City of Racine when it was incorporated in 1848. Removed to Chicago 1860, where he continued in active business. He died there of "old age".
