Paul Bernard Ryan, 80, of Waverly, died on Sunday, December 9, 2001 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born on December 3, 1921, in Jacksonville, the son of Frank J. and Irma Kepler Ryan. He married Barbara Joyce Sexton on June 6,1947 and she preceded her in death on February 11, 1994.

He is survived by three sons: Mike (wife, Becky) and Robert, both of Waverly and Kelly (wife, Linda) of Franklin; three daughters: Carol (husband, Alan "Pete") Peterson, Madonna White and Becky Gideon, all of Waverly; two brothers: Jerry (wife, Caroline) Ryan of Beardstown and Richard "Mickey" (wife, Frances) Ryan of Springfield; two sisters: Mary Ellen Ryan and Rose Ryan, both of Springfield; 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard, in infancy and four brothers: Robert Ryan, Maurice Ryan, Donald Ryan and William "Pete" Ryan.

He graduated from Waverly high School in the class of 1940. He retired from the Iloinois Schollfor the Dead as a Cottage Parent. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Waverly, Waverly American Legion Post 262 and Waverly VFW Post 4866.

Services were entrusted to Neece Funeral Home of Waverly, Ohio.
