Ancil Champion was the son of Calvin Burnham and Ann Slate Champion. Ancil was married to Ella Sophronia Ashley July 5, 1887 by Ella's father, Rev. Desmond Gibbs Ashley. Ancil and Ella had one child, a daughter, Mildred Ashley Champion; Mildred married and had three daughters, Ruth, Lois and Doris Miner. Ancil and Ella, lived in Norwich, Connecticut for most of their adult lives, where Ancil was a janitor for the Norwich Saving Society. He purchased a family plot at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich on May 9, 1935.
