An old and respected resident of the Weir, Patrick H. Galligan, husband of the late Julia A. (Hanrahan) Galligan died at his home. 481 Weir Street Sunday, after an illness of a few days, having contracted pneumonia on New Year's Day. Mr. Galligan was born in Raynham in 1847 and came to this city when he was four years old. He was educated in the schools of the city. For 40 years he was employed at the John Paull Grain Company. For the past five years he had been employed at a bridge turner at the Weir. Before his employment at the grain company he was a member of the Taunton police force for several years. Mr. Galligan was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church, and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John J. Brady and Mrs. Thomas Powers of this city; five sons, Deputy fire chief John M. Galligan, Thomas B. Galligan of this city, James E. Galligan of Chicago, IL, Charles H. Galligan of Ipswich, and Joseph E. Galligan of New Haven, CT; also 10 grandchildren.
