James was born in Indiana and moved at a young age to Mercer County, Missouri. He married Malvina Esther Kirk 16 Feb 1879 in Mill Grove. They had 13 children: Nancy Clarinda "Clara", John Kelly, Herman Edgar, David Francis, Millie Vista, Gracie Leona, William Perry, Jessie Elmer, Sylvia Cecil, Edna Fern, Clifford Kirk, Margaret Edith, and Virgil Leroy. David died at age 1, and Sylvia died at age 2. About 5 years before James died, they moved to Arkansas. After he died, Malvina moved back to Burrton, Kansas.

James and Malvina were my GG Grandparents.
