Sr Mary Laura S.S.E. Snyder

Tertiary Sister of St. Elizabeth Entered religious life 3/19/1933; Professed 6/23/1934.

In the book Convent Life,By Joan Lexau, she listed two communities of Sisters of St.Elizabeth.

One was the Grey Sisters of St.Elizabeth, Sr. Laura wore a grey Habit.

One order was in New York state.

The other Sisters of St.Elizabeth were in Brookfield, WI.
These sisters followed the rule of St.Francis
and later on the community joined together with one of the Franciscan communities in Milwaukee.
The Sisters cared for the Elderly and had a Retirement Home at 745 N Brookfield Road, Town of Brookfield, Wisconsin.
As they became older themselves, they cared for each other.

It was always a treat to visit Sr. Laura which we did often, and we always walked away with a holy card or a scapular or rosary many of which we still have. We often also were allowed to visit her in the Sisters Chapel.

Sr. Laura is buried beside the other Sisters (Nuns) and the Mother Superiors, Mother Mary Elizabeth Ruff, Mother Mary Agnes Stippich. Other nuns buried near her are Sr. Mary Rose Dwyer, Sr. Mary Anthony Gengler, Sr. Mary Therese Gillach, Sr. Mary Pio Noel, Sr. Mary Clare Obrien, Sr. Mary Joseph Schoen, Sr. Mary Anna Spitzer, Sr. Mary Louise Wiemer.
