He was born Aug. 19, 1881, in West Weber, a son of George and Cynthia Lois Green Heslop.
On Dec. 12, 1906, he married Sarah Elizabeth Gibson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Jan. 24, 1964.
He was a lifelong resident of West Weber and was educated in Weber County Schools, attending Weber Academy.
He was a member of the West Weber LDS Ward and had served as ward clerk, Sunday School superintendent, ward organist, Sunday School organist, bishop
Counselor and was a bishop for 26 years.
He had been a member of the North Weber Stake High Council for the past 13 years and served a Colorado mission from 1901 to 1904.
A farmer prior to retiring, he formerly worked as a clerk in the Hawkes Grocery Store in West Weber. He was a beet weigher for Amalgamated Sugar Company and served a term on the Weber County Board of Education.
During World War ll he worked as a timekeeper at Defense Depot Ogden. He was a member of the Weber County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are two sons and four daughters, Clifford J. Heslop of West Weber, Carl Heslop of West Point, Mrs. C. Milton (Mary Bell) Farr of Tremonton, Mrs. Ivan R. (Cleone) Cox of Fairview, Mrs. J. Melvin (Cynthia) Wheeler of Ogden, and Mrs. C. Orton (Lavon) Isaacson of Moses Lake, Wash., 13 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; six brothers and one sister, John A. Heslop, Austin Heslop, Herbert S. Heslop, all of West Weber, Jesse Heslop of Kaysville, Edward T. Heslop of Brigham City, Fanklin Heslop of Elwood and Mrs. Lois Peterson of Granger.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the West Weber Ward Chapel with Bishop Boyd Hancock officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., and at the ward chapel Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the West Weber Cemetery.
