Clara Marie Bertha Gehrls Bunge, 79, died Dec. 19 at the Mechanicsville Care Center. She had been a resident there for 3 years. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Horner Funeral Home, Mechanicsville with the Rev. Dick Harberts officiating. Mrs. Calvin Robinson was organist and pallbearers were Steve Bunge, Randy Bunge, Tracy Bunge, James Boots, Kenneth Bunge and Dennis Jurgemeyer. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville.
She was born Oct. 29, 1902 to Henry and Sophia Hulke Gehrls at Lowden. She received her education in the Lowden schools. She was married to Emil William Bunge Jan. 31, 1926 and they farmed in the Mechanicsville area. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Mechanicsville.
She is survived by 5 sons, Donald, Fountain Valley, CA; Robert, Mechanicsville; Allen, Cedar Rapids; Jerry, Lisbon and Richard, Canton, IL; 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Florence) Boots, Mechanicsville; Mrs. Gilbert (Evelyn) Jurgemeyer, Keystone and Lois Filkins, Chino, CA; one sister, Mrs. Wilma Ruchotzke, Cedar Rapids, 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil, 1 son, Kenneth, 3 brothers, 5 sisters and one granddaughter.
