Oscar J. Goodman, 70, died Monday morning in Omaha where the Goodmans were seeing a new granddaughter. Funeral services were held Thursday at Assembly of God Church with Rev. Aniel Hight officiating. Burial was in the Del Norte cemetery with Knights of Pythias doing the ritual at the grave.
Oscar was born in Del Norte, Colorado Feb. 10, 1903, the son of Lola and Clarence Goodman. He and Miss Virginia Dantice were married in the spring of 1930 and they were the parents of two daughters, Betty and Linda.
Oscar farmed, rode ditch, worked for Jackson Implement, was shop foreman for the Underwoods, and worked at Del Norte Motor. When the new post office was built, he served as caretaker for 10 or 12 years. He was a member of Coronado Lodge and enjoyed fishing, rock hounding and people.
Survivors are his wife, daughters, granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
