His parents were:
Father: Michele (Mike) Lavoriano
Mother: Vincenza (Jennie) Cipolla
Ralph and his family immigrated to the USA and settled in Jamestown, NY. As a young man Ralph worked in Jamestown's heavy manufacturing industry.
The family name was later changed from Lavoriano to Laurie.
In 1923 he married Vincenza (Jennie) Calcagno.
They had two children:
Mike
Jennie (Little Jennie)
In 1937 Ralph moved the family cross country to San Jose, CA. The weather in San Jose was much like Sicily and far better than NY. After Ralph and family moved to Calif. some of the other relatives from Jamestown also moved here.
Ralph and Jennie owned and operated several restaurants in the San Jose area. Ralph was also an expert fruit tree pruner and worked in the large apricot and prune orchards of Santa Clara County.
Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family and vacation trips to Lake Tahoe. Ralph also loved the outdoors and was a hunter and fisherman. And he was a great gardener who always had plenty of home grown fruit and vegetables from his backyard garden.
Ralph and Jennie had a lovely Spanish Colonial home that they bought in the 1930s and they kept for the rest of their lives.
