Son of William Tibbet and Elizabeth Ager. Born probably in Ottawa County, Michigan although his burial record says he was born in Rapid River (Delta County), MI. Moved with his parents and siblings to Warren County, Iowa prior to the 1870 census where they are found living in Sandyville, Union Township, Warren County Iowa. Most of his family moved to California (El Monte, Santa Monica area) before the 1880 census.

Married Nettie Jane Flores on 14 Jan 1886 in San Bernardino County, California. By the 1900 census they were living in Tipton, Tulare County, California where Charles was listed as a minister of the Gospel. They were apparently affiliated with the United Brethren in Christ. Rev. C W Tibbet is mentioned several times in the "Christian Conservator," a publication of that religion.

In the 1900 census Nettie had by then 6 children with 5 still living. Listed were: Charles, Alice, Ida, Ruth and Franklin. However, Alice died as a baby and Laura Pearl is not listed. By the 1910 census they had moved to Oakdale, Stanislaus County. Charles was still a minister and two more children, Dwight and Esther, had been added to the family.

Sometime after that, the family moved to Oregon where they are found living in Linn County. In the 1920 census Charles was a farmer and he was working as a carpenter in the 1930 census. In one directory he was listed as a mechanic. Nettie died in 1938 in Oregon.

By the 1940 census Charles had remarried and was living in King County, Washington.

Charles and Nettie (Flores) Tibbet had 8 known children:
1. Charles Glenn
2. Alice Irene - died young
3. Laura Pearl
4. Ida May
5. Ruth Elizabeth
6. Franklin Wesley
7. Dwight Barkley
8. Esther Helen
