Mrs. Virginia Wilkinson Wilde, wife of Prof. William C Wilde, has just died in New Orleans. She was the daughter of Dr. J.B. Wilkinson, had reached the age of 61 years and was a native of Plaquemines Parish. She was the daughter in law of Richard Henry Wilde, the eminent poet and jurist, who died in New Orleans some Forty years ago, and the mother of a son of the same name, for several years connected with the press of New Orleans, who died about Seven years ago in New York.

Mrs. Wilde was possessed of great literary ability, and was a frequent contributor to magazines and journals. The unmarked grave of Richard Henry Wilde was for years in the rear of the lot now owned by Mr. James P Verdery on the hill. Soon after Paul Hayne was buried however, the remains of Wilde were exhumed and placed beside Hayne in the Augusta Cemetery.
