REV. CHARLES J. ALFORD, 85, of Florence, died Tuesday at his home. He retired after 33 years as a minister. He was former pastor at the Union Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Walton, DeHaven Memorial Baptist Church, LaGrange, and Wilmer Avenue Baptist Church, Anniston, Ala. He was a graduate of Moody Theological College. He was formerly moderator of Sulphur Fork Association, a member of the executive board of the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky and Civitan Club in Anniston, and trustee of the Kentucky Baptist Childrens Home, Glendale.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Davis Alford; a brother, Omer Alford of Hickory Corner, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to DeHaven Memorial Baptist Church.
