*note... Cyrus' birth date is intentionally different in the data field than what is written on the marker and in the marker order form. True proof of his birth date is not known to me; however the 1820,1830,1840 censuses all indicate he was not old enough to have been born in 1790. It appears he was 4 or 5 years younger. His military grave registration card indicates his birth as 1796.

"I have this day bought of R. W. Caldwell, one set of Marble Grave Stones, Head-stone, about 4 1/4 feet high and 21 inches wide, to be 3 inches thick, Foot-stone one third as high, and one third the width of Head-stone, inscribed as follows: Cyrus Catlin Died Oct. 28th 1857, Aged 67 yrs 8 ms 14 ds; Book & Base, to be finished like the "Jones Job" [could this mean the Columbus Jones marker?] in McArthur to be delivered at McArthur and set up at any time between the 1st of Nov and the last of Dec next, for which I agree to pay Fifty dollars. signed Clarissa Catlin"
