J.E. Cooper was born July 5, 1849, died April 19, 1933. He was 83 years, 9 months and 14 days old.

Brother Cooper was married to Martha Vaughan, August 11, 1878. To this union three children were born and all survive him. They are, Mrs. L.P. Long, Mrs. E. Kinnett and Mrs. Homer Kinnett. His former wife died in the year 1924. In 1927 he was married to Abbie Lair, who survives him.

Bro. Cooper professed faith in Christ in the year 1896, and untied with the Presbyterian Church at Smith's Bottom, where he lived a consistent Christian life and was loyal to his church until the end came.

For years Bro. Cooper had been a resident of Monticello, Ky., where he was living at the time of his death.

The writer visited him a number of times during his long illness and always found him beautifully reconciled to the Lord's will. Many times he rejoiced and shouted, "How sweet Heaven must be." He expressed himself many times that he was ready to live or ready to die. He requested all to live right, so that all could meet together in Heaven again.

Funeral services were held and conducted at his residence, Friday the 21st, by his neighbor, Rev. Mintford Hicks, after which his body was laid to rest in the Alexander Cemetery.

Pallbearers were W.R. Tuggle, C.E. Guthrie, Judge R.R. Dalton, Earl Powell, J.R. Dalton and J.H. Tate.
